This newsletter ultimately is dedicated to music as an art form and its ever-present place in our lives.
There is a call for curation at the moment and I feel that it is worth giving people an opportunity to discover new music in a more human and friendly way, rather than in the cold mechanic way that technology has delivered for us.
I'm gonna keep the chat to a minimum and focus on sharing great music over a wide spectrum of sounds.
Five is a nice round number that I think everyone can keep up with as well as myself. So I will have at least five tracks per post.
I will also share some mixes that are worth hearing at the end.
Let's aim for every Month as a minimum.
I want to start small and see where this goes. I hope people find value in this and share it around. (:

This months tracks:
Being Dead - Van Goes
I got tipped off on this band recently by a top bloke.
I listened to their 2023 album and loved how genuinely weird and interesting ideas played out throughout the listen.
This track from the new album is a great introduction.

Spotify:
Ken Boothe & Jammy’s - You're No Good
Trojan Records Classic.
A real heartbreaking vocal dubbbed out and accompanied but a fat bass line.
There are a fair few versions of this one out there. I have to say, the streaming ones aren’t the best. I originally heard this on the Creation Rockers Volume 2 Compilation. I really love that version.
Spotify:

Buckley - Hard Kru
Heavy, Rolling Club Track. All the elements of the UK sound I love rolled into one song at 140.
Subwoofer rinser.

Calibre - For You Alone
Soulful, deep and catchy dnb.
Calibre makes so much quality music, blending a wide range of sounds across the drum and bass universe . If you really enjoy this one and want to get more, the Bandcamp link is your best bet to get a hold of it.

Sorry - There’s So Many People That Want To Be Loved
I just caught the tail end of the bitter European winter, so naturally I have been drawn to this super sweet, catchy but sombre Indie Pop track.

Alogte Oho and his Sounds of Joy - A Lemine Me
I can’t help but be happy with this song on. It’s so fucking great. As the Home Brew song goes, I first heard it during the height of the night in a sweaty Whammy Bar with christoph el' truento on the decks.

Soulution Entertainment - Drift Away
This is directly from a record heavy corner of my room. I hadn’t really thought about it for a while.
I dug it out of the bargain bins. Definitely in Cologne.
It's a deep, monotonous and hazy Deep House journey in the vein of Moodymann.
No easy Streaming links for this one unfortunately. I had to do the rip myself to get this up on youtube. A couple of the other tracks are up there though if you want to hear more.

LEAO - AFIAFI
Noa Records were on NTS the other week and have been getting some love from the UK station recently. It’s exciting and important that their music and story is reaching a wider audience. Beyond the track and live performance linked above, the morning radio show from Flo is worth listening to if you have an interest in music from Aotearoa and the Pacific. .
