It’s the second Wednesday in July and my insatiable thirst for music continues.
I was glad to hear back from a few people about that tracks they liked. It looks like the newsletter is doing its job so far.
It also made me happy that many of the tracks that were mentioned were so different in terms of tone, theme and what era they were released in.
It makes sense to continue to keep digging from this deep bucket. So here is yet another monthly harvest.

Church & Eno - Mizora
It’s worth mentioning it’s summer time where I stay right now. Many of the tracks I have selected reflect this quite obviously.
But during the crazy heat of the past 4 or so weeks, this smooth soulful sound from the South Pacific has let me cruise through the city without a speck of trouble on my mind.

Shinichi Atobe - Rain 3
Rain 3 is a long one to zone out to. It’s a surprisingly subtle yet immersive track where each sound is carefully crafted to sit perfectly in its place.

School Of Zuversicht - Hinter dem Hügel
I’m actually pretty unsure how this ended up in my orbit. Regardless. It never gets boring, and rides the line between sadness and ecstasy that all great tracks do.

Bakaka Band - Gobonimada Jira (Choose Freedom)
I’m not sure how many years ago it was now but I used part of my first paycheck in Germany to buy this record. It’s been regularly played at my house, parties and bars ever since.

Mac DeMarco - Home
I haven’t heard a track from Mac in a long while. Really enjoyed this one. Sweet, soft and soulful with a touch of melancholy. New Album on the way.

Even in these darkest of times where the whole world feels like a huge mass collapsing in on itself, This kind of music fills me with positivity and allows me to see a future for all of us.

MELODOWNZ - MONEY CALLIN ft. Halfsing
Auckland is probably a wet, cold mess right now but this one comes to me in the height of the summer heat.
The song itself is just a reminder of how great music out of West Auckland is and always will be.
